STEP 1: Look at the Cover

LookWhat is  the first thing you notice on the cover? Why?
LookDescribe the egg: colour and size.
LookDescribe the duck:  colours, feet, head.
PredictWhat do you think is in the egg?   
ResearchFind out what colour and size of eggs ducks lay. 
Check Look up the meaning of  ‘odd’ and ‘hatch an egg’ in your dictionary.
Step 2 and Step 3: Listen and Watch
Part AListen and watch for general understanding and enjoyment.
Part BListen and watch again and answer the questions, pause and replay when you need to.
Which other birds are in the story?
 How does duck feel about his egg? 
 What do the other birds think of duck’s egg? How does that make duck feel?  
What is going to happen when we hear  ‘creak-crack’? Say it with Emily. 
 What does duck do while waiting for his  egg to hatch?
 What do the other birds do?  
Step 4: Add your Voice
